On Monday, February 15th, Acid NYC presented its Fall/Winter 2016 collection at the Nolcha Shows presented by NeoGrid during New York Fashion Week.
Acid NYC—made by husband and wife design duo Evelyn Luna and Scott Chester—is the first brand to introduce pieces using a new wearable technology called ThermalTech—a steel mesh inserted into their garments that absorbs heat to warm the body.
This includes the brand’s “Astraea” jacket, which converts into a vest—the sleeves zip off. It comes in black and ivory options, with the ThermalTech layered inside between embossed neoprene and the lining, retailing for $480.
“We are focused on the future of fashion—implementing technology and material science to bring our prints to life,” said co-founder Evelyn Luna, “TherrmalTech has given us the opportunity to work with an innovative material that benefits our customer and was easily integrated into our line.”
Utilizing patented, lightweight, energy absorbing fabric technology, ThermalTech is designed to capture the sun’s ultraviolet rays (as well as energy from artificial light sources), transforming them into heat to warm wearers up by an additional 18 degrees Fahrenheit in a matter of minutes.
Now in its eighth consecutive year, and held during New York Fashion week, the Nolcha Shows are one of the city’s leading platforms for global independent fashion designers, offering a launch pad to forward thinking brands like Acid NYC.
