Deﬁant, American Single Malt Whisky, recently named Best New Whisky of 2013 (The Drammie Awards) and North Carolina Distillery of the Year (Berlin International Spirits Competition), returns as an Official Sponsor of Nolcha Fashion Week: New York Spring/Summer 2015. This season’s events will run September 8th – 10th, 2014, including individual and collective runway presentations, an exclusive media brunch, fashion lounge, networking events, and an official fashion week closing party.
Deﬁant revolutionizes the distillation process by taking the best of Scottish tradition and combining it with American ingenuity. Deﬁant is based in Golden Valley, North Carolina. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain, the water is drawn from an aquifer right under the distillery.
The Deﬁant operation is led by Tim Ferris; guiding the crew and the spirit. Tim is the founder of international salvage diving company Deﬁant Marine and Deﬁant Whisky. Salvage diving is what took him around the globe. It’s what inspired him to start distilling. At the bottom of the ocean one day; topping off a glass the next. Tim is about balance, from oceans and mountains to water and ﬁre, and just like him, the balance in his whisky is exquisite.
“Our crew behind the stills are salvage divers by trade. We run towards certain disaster and change fate with metal, ﬁre, water and intellect. Our whiskey is created by those same virtues. We begin with the ﬁnest ingredients and ﬁnish with a new kind of spirit. We’re starting a whiskey revolution,” says Tim Ferris of the brand.
Deﬁant is a new way of distilling; not bound by barrels or recipes or tradition. Guided by the best ingredients, Mother Nature and their own intuition. Only using four ingredients: premium American white oak toasted to perfection; specifically cultured yeast selected by Tim, two-row premium brewer’s barley and pure water from the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Defiant Whisky continues to receive tremendous accolades in the spirits industry and is currently active in various campaigns including as seen on CNN Airline Media, a partner of Global Green and a part of the Zero South expedition to the South Pole.
