BACKGROUND: Hathairat Maneerat, the Bangkok born designer, grew up with a love for fashion and knew that she wanted to be a fashion designer since high school. Hathairat spent her teenage years in Auckland New Zealand and studied fashion design in Paris before finally moving to New York City, where she remains today as the Creative Director of her namesake brand; Hathairat (pronounced Hã-tie-rãt). Never a follower of trends, Hathairat has always followed her natural fashion instincts and designed what she believes looks best on the individual woman. Having an international residence inevitably gives the collection a global influence visible in the multi-wearability of “hard-to-miss” statements, all of which can be seen throughout her designs. Hathairat’s initial designs are fit and flare and color blocking, combined with various luxury fabrics, all including fine detail of ruffles, multiple layers and voluminous look and feel. Many of Hathairat’s designs feature her signature fun, pop-culture inspired, fashion-forward, unique prints. The Esmod alumni cleverly provides a healthy balance of a clean lines fused with whimsy and elegance inspired by themes from her personal style, fantasy, luxury, various cultures and society which reflect who she is. Hathairat’s clients are the women who are daring, confident, whimsical, cosmopolitan and elegant. The creative direction of her brand focuses on statement styles that are the go-to-occasional-wear with a witty yet romantic character and modern appeal.
