BACKGROUND

Host & Var is a bond between two women; a mother and daughter, women at different stages in their life but with a shared vision and drive, and a connection formed of love and respect. We could say that the daughter is Spring and the mother is Autumn. In 1989 this connection was formed and it has grown from that point into a perfect partnership of understanding and a combined force of equal strength.

Høst & Vår is a native Norwegian brand, the name meaning Spring and Autumn. The designs provide a complete capsule for these transitionary seasons and beyond, combining prints, layering of shapes, materials, to create an overall feminine and thoughtfully detailed style.

The collections embrace flowing shapes and beautiful fabrics, they are not shy, they are bold and confident and represent an inner strength and intellect, courage, independence and love.

WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THIS SEASON’S COLLECTION?

AQUARELLUM ATRAMENTO

Taking inspiration from water and the aquarelle painting method, in which pigments are suspended in a water based solution, the ‘Aquarellum Atramento’ collection is soft, light and airy.

The name of the collection translates from Latin as ‘Aquarelle made with ink’.

The patterns, colors and textures include bubbles suspended on a background of translucent burn-out fabric, or splashes of colored ink in blues, turquoise, yellow and pinks, coral shapes, and florals.

The collection was photographed in Tuscany in the beautiful region of the Calanchi hills: an area of outstanding natural beauty. The dramatic forms of eroded rocks were formed over time by soil erosion produced by the effect of run-off water on clay rocks.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

In stavanger, Norway. But we have agencies around the world.
WHAT MAKES YOUR COLLECTION UNIQUE?

The collection features sustainable Vegan fabrics holding the V-Label certificate. With innovative technology the fibres are regenerated using by-products of cotton production, creating a fabric which has the positive qualities of silk without any cruelty to animals; soft to touch, naturally anti-bacterial and odour resistant. The fabrics are toxin free and are kind to both skin and the planet – they are fully biodegradable after two months of soil coverage.
