The lead-up to fashion week 2020, and 2021 felt dampened, for obvious and good reason. We all shared the fatigue, frustration, and repression. It was New York Fashion Week without a New York feel.
We are a New York brand, founded and led by a New Yorker. It is easy to say that New York is inspirational, and everyone who steps foot on this electromagnetic island is inspired by its radiating energy.
Collectively, we as designers owe the fashion audience something special. NYFW this year needs to crush, it has to be as big as One World Trade. Thus, what makes New York’s energy, the endless drive, and the necessary hustle, were the inspiration.
The next step was to encapsulate the feel of New York street energy into a collection. We didn’t need to go far for our muse. Our Showroom and Design Studio literally thump to the beat of DogPound Gym, which is on the street level of our building. Starting daily at sunrise and dressed in all black, Founder Kirk Myers’ and his team morph mortals into warriors out on our street. DogPound’s vernacular is dominated by “smash”, “crush”, “yes!”, and most importantly, “let’s go!”.
Voila! A collection was born, we named it STREETORIAL, and all the inspiration was found from high above the corner of Canal and Renwick. Coincidentally, the destination of this launch is the 69th floor of One World Trade, which carries a monstrous presence when looking south from our Design Studio.
