The idea for Tribe Alive took root when founder Carly Burson and her husband finalized the adoption of their daughter, Elie. As Carly spent time in Ethiopia, she met many mothers who did not have the means to support their children.
Carly wanted to find a way to honor Elie’s birth mother and others like her while addressing the core issue of global child relinquishment — namely, the economic insecurity facing women in the developing world.
Tribe Alive became a platform in which to alleviate poverty and give women around the world the opportunity to raise their children and determine their futures through economic empowerment.
WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THIS SEASON’S COLLECTION?
This season’s collection is inspired by Southwestern architecture and colors. Clean lines, rich yet subtle tones, and versatility are the driving forces behind our collection. Each piece is meant to be worn from season to season and to carry the modern woman into each part of her life — work to weekend. From the blush colors painted by the desert sunset to creamy Southwestern stucco, this collection is meant to tell a love story with nature and finding oneself amidst the journey.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
Fort Worth, Texas.
WHAT MAKES YOUR COLLECTION UNIQUE?
This collection combines all of our best-selling textiles! One of the sub-collections is our ‘Up-Cycled Collection’ where each piece is made from pre-consumer denim scraps that come from jean factory floors. What was once destined for the landfill has been given a new life and purpose with each garment. Another sub-collection that we’re very proud of is our ‘Woven Collection’. Each piece of this fabric is handwoven on a loom by female artisans in Guatemala. We use this fabric to make everything from dresses to tops and pants. Lastly, our ‘Linen Collection’ from India is an elevated collection that is 100% organic. Plus, each garment is hand-dyed using non-toxic colors.
