Thank god it’s Friday….Independent Fashion Friday that is!  In honor of Independence Day today we have found five great American based independent fashion designers for you! From jewelery to handbags, show your support for these great American designers.

About: Christopher Belt is originally from rural Sheridan, Arkansas. He grew up on Shoemaker Road and knew very early he was destined to become an accessory designer. He worked for Munro footwear in Hot Springs, Arkansas, an American Made custom fit product that is sold at Nordstrom. After graduating from Savannah College of Art & Design with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Accessory Design he became the Designer and Creative Director of 3Seven&8.

The 3Seven&8 collection embodies a daring, contemporary lifestyle. Designer Christopher Belt incorporates provocative yet playful lines with bold silhouettes inspired by architecture with feminine and organic lines. His eye for detail and impeccable taste for rare, luxurious Italian leathers make 3Seven&8 a rare find across the globe. These interchangeable designs assist the modern woman’s passage through various locations, situations, and occasions in an exquisite way. The collection is inspired by all of the brilliant and driven women in Christopher’s life who have always longed for a product that epitomizes both empowerment and glamor.

About: Beginning as a visual merchandiser for Victoria’s Secret, then taking the reigns as lead stylist and sales for Men’s wear at Internationally known vintage retailer, What Goes Around Comes Around, Chrsitian Benner has rapidly become one of the most in-demand creators in New York City’s cut throat underground fashion scene. Mastering the art of taking existing pieces (predominantly rock tees and leather goods) and redesigning, distressing and reviving ‘the old’ by giving them a new life, a second story, and definitely some amazing, one of a kind touches, is what stands him out from the rest – Catering to the likes of Brandon Flowers, Mila Kunis, Jakob Dylan, Brad Pitt, Taylor Swift, Donatella Versace and many others and receiving countless editorial features and stylings both domestically and overseas.

LauraBrand: LAURA SIEGEL

About: Laura Siegel is an award-winning fashion designer based in New York and Toronto.

Her ethically handcrafted, easy-to-wear textured pieces are designed in collaboration with artisans in Asia and Latin America.

After receiving her formal design education at Parsons School of Design in New York City and London’s Central Saint Martins’, Siegel honed her skills in silver-smithing, knitting, natural dyeing, embroidery, and accessory design with top industry professionals and skilled artisans. Her work has taken her to all corners of the globe, enabling the young designer to work for and collaborate with international designers such as Megan Park, Life with Bird, Yigal Azrouel, Luca Luca, and Arthur Mendonca. Siegel’s travels and insights into diverse design processes and unique production methods have shaped her ethically handcrafted collection while enabling artisans in third world countries to preserve their cultures and crafts.

About: Designer Jess Rizzuti first discovered her deeply-rooted interest in fashion as a young girl. This passion led her to enroll in the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textiles. While learning about the industry, Jess found her greatest passion lied in a unique focus, Surface Pattern Design (graphics, textiles and product design focusing on mixed media and special techniques). This specialization would lead Rizzuti to continue her education at the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology, where she perfected her knowledge of Handbag and Accessory Design.

TitleThe designer’s innate creativity and extraordinary artistic abilities allowed her to indulge in interests such as mural painting, which further encouraged her to unearth her many design influences – travel, art, history, nature, textures and exquisite colors.

Jess is conscious of environmental impact and believes in exercising ethical practices. She earned a nomination three years in a row for her creations in cork as Best Green Handbag in the Independent Handbag Designer Awards sponsored by InStyle. The eco-friendly designs utilized water-based dyes and glue, heat-transferred patterns, renewable resources and waste-reducing concepts.
