8th August, 2014
On Tuesday, September 9, spinach, onions, tomatoes and more will be making their modeling debut at Nolcha Fashion Week: New York, when SUBWAY® restaurants hosts the second annual Project SUBWAY fashion event in New York City at the height of Fashion Week. This year Project SUBWAY has an exciting new twist. The brand has challenged up and coming designers and F.I.T. students to construct one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by vegetables found in a SUBWAY® restaurant.
A celebrity judge panel, including pro basketball’s MVP of fashion and SUBWAY Famous Fan, Russell Westbrook and SUBWAY® Famous Fan, Nastia Liukin (Olympic Champion), Bella Thorne (Actress), Rocsi Diaz (On-Air Host for Entertainment Tonight) and Johnny Wujek (Celebrity Stylist) will be on-site to critique the designs. The judges will choose a winning design based on creativity, originality, beauty and best representation of the vegetables. As a reward, the winning designer will receive a $1,000 cash prize and have his/her original design displayed at a New York City SUBWAY® restaurant.
This is not the brand’s first experience in fashion. Last year Project SUBWAY® made a splash at Nolcha Fashion Week, when designers debuted dresses made entirely out of materials found at SUBWAY® restaurants, from sandwich wrappers and napkins, to salad bowls and gift cards. Additionally, over the past four years, SUBWAY® Famous Fans Torah Bright, Debbie Phelps, Laila Ali and Nastia Liukin have all walked in The Heart Truth Red Dress® Collection Fashion Show to spread awareness of women’s heart health issues on behalf of the SUBWAY® brand.
Project SUBWAY and Nolcha Fashion Week will take place at Eyebeam Atelier, 540 West 21st Street between 10th and 11th avenue, at 11:45am on September 9, 2014.
