Not only did thousands of fashion insiders including media, buyers and stylists attend Nolcha Fashion Week: New York Presented by RUSK on September 12, for a day long presentation of runway shows featuring international designers, but celebrities flocked to witness the fashions featured at the shows.
The day began with the “Best in British Menswear” presentation, featuring PrettyGreen (by Liam Gallagher), Firetrap (with shoes by Cat Footwear), Bolongaro Trevor (from the original design duo behind cult-retail chain, All Saints), and Richard Smith Prêt à Porter–who designs bespoke men’s suits, and thus had notable NYC business men walking in his show, including Ryan Serhant (star of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing New York), Peter Shankman (Founder of HARO), and Sergio Fernandez de Cordova (Global Entrepreneurs Council at United Nations), just to name a few.
The womenswear shows throughout the day showed a mix of couture, ready-to-wear, evening wear, lingerie and streetwear. International designers included AISHA x ARTINI by Dany Tabet (Beirut), Mariana Valentina (Argentina), Arrum Lilly (Swaziland), Baruni (Dubai), Gulschachereli (Turkey), Angyles Balek (Bangok, Thailand), M.N Aloush (Saudi Arabia), Pamela Gonzales (Peru) and KabukiU (Australia).
“The Nolcha brand continues to span the globe by attracting international talent from Turkey, Peru, Swaziland, Dubai, Thailand, Australia, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom,” says Kerry Bannigan, CEO of Nolcha Fashion Week.
“Despite the recession there is still a strong desire by designers world-wide to be a part of the New York fashion industry.”
American designers included Adolfo Sanchez, Studio 6th Sense, Priti by Design and YBCouture.
“This year the celebrity buzz was also contagious as our Red Carpet was packed with noted celebrities from the TV and music industries, and even a few noted sports figures,” adds Bannigan.
