Runway Recap: LUM at Nolcha Fashion Week: New York presented by RUSK SS14
Designer Name: Lama Taher
Label Name: LUM
Background: Launched in 2010, Lum was founded by Lama Taher. The idea emerged when she moved back from London. After living 6 years abroad and receiving her MSc in Child Psychology, she decided to give her academic pursuits a break and nourish her dormant creativity by strengthening her intrinsic passion in fashion design.
Lum’s first collection included feminine casual wear offering unique cotton t-shirts and chic jumpsuits and vests. The rapid expansion of the brand emerged after Lum created cocktail dresses that are chic, classy and wearable. The overwhelming positive feedback encouraged the designer to translate her taste in evening gowns made to flaunt women with color and style. As the success continued and demand increased, LUM now expanded and created couture pieces that reflect delicacy and grace. In 2 years, LUM have reached clients worldwide and is now being sold in all GCC countries.
Vision: We are committed to our design concepts of simplicity and elegance, to quality and value and putting our customer first, always. Lum’s mission is to design and provide modern simplicity and comfort combined with the elegance and grace of the Victorian era.4
Signature style: It offers a feminine, delicate, confident and classy mystique by reflecting effortless elegance. Blending soft colors and trimming with delicate lace, flounces, frills and bows is our signature. Quality and exclusivity are assured as each item is meticulously designed and individually hand-made.
